Monday March 28 – after another
rousing night of virtually no sleep,
the gang is ready to go
bright and early the next morning
We spend the morning – and some of the afternoon – at the Louvre Museum
Emmanuelle gives us a briefing before we enter the museum proper
In excavating for the Pyramid they discovered the ancient moat and foundations of the Louvre fortress
Picture time for the group
The Louvre Palace itself is pretty impressive
Here I am with one of my heros -- Alexander the Great (the same bust on this website)
Winged victory
Brad and the Venus de Milo
A main gallery
And of course we get in line to view da Vinci's Mona Lisa
With all-day tickets, some
of us head to the nearby Latin Quarter for lunch –
and some sightseeing and
shopping
Just as we return to the Louvre a big storm moves in on us
Our last night in Paris – back at the Flam restaurant off the Champs Elysées
And then we do a one last stand along the Champs Elysées
Brent and Bob decide to do a little window shopping
We take our last trip on the Metro
Brent does one last shopping expedition at the Mall next to the hotel before turning in for the night
And the 10th/11th grade girls
host one last party
(complete with crêpes)
in their room their last night in Paris
Holding a conversation with
some Spanish students --
which takes an unexpected
turn when about 20 of them descend down to the girls' room
Renee does some journaling
The next morning we begin our journey home
We say goodbye to Paris at the Charles De Gaulle Airport
Because of the dense fog
in London, Heathrow operations are uncertain –
so we wait to see what will
happen
Awaiting seat assignments at Heathrow Airport
In Philadelphia some of the parents are waiting for us (we are three hours late in our arrival)
By the time most of us are
finally at home ready for bed
it is the equivalent of
7:00 a.m. Paris time the next day!
