Sunday March 27th – After breakfast we head by Métro to the Ile de la Cité
We attend Easter Service at the Notre Dame Cathedral
A headless St. Denis
After worship we gather for a photo-op in front of the cathedral
And I gave them a recap of the sermon (it had been in French, of course!)
Once again – lunch afterward in the Latin Quarter
The upper eating room
View from the upper room
After lunch we take a walk along the Seine River
The Conciergerie – where
prisoners were kept
before they were brought
to the guillotine during the French Revolution (1790s)
The Pont Neuf
Our destination was the Musée
d'Orsay --
but when we got there we
discovered that the line was several hours long

We decide to head (by an unusual underground train) on to the Eiffel Tower
Naturally -- there is a spectacular view from the top of the tower
A few of us pass up the Eiffel Tower climb – and relax at a nearby Seine-side cafe instead
We complete the afternoon with a Seine River boat tour
The rain finally hits as we are making our way to the restaurant (Auberge du Père Louis) for dinner
The food is excellent –
but the room turns horribly
hot after a horde of Portuguese press in on us in the upper room
For some of us it has been
a long and tiring day
(of course the lack of sleep
hasn't helped any)
After dinner Bob, Joe, Brent
and Tate head out to a hookah bar in the Latin Quarter
to try some oriental tobacco
smoking
Finally they head back to the hotel (in a taxi -- for the Metro is closed)
